Second Baptist Church

Pastor Alphonso Jackson, Sr. has served as Senior Pastor of the Second Baptist Church of Richmond Heights from November 2000 to the present day. A native of South Florida, Pastor Jackson was born to Reverend and Mrs. Arthur Jackson, Jr. as the second of their six children. He is happily married to the lovely Dewana Jackson, and they have been blessed with two children - Min. Alphonso, Jr. and Brianna.

He was licensed as Minister at the New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, in Miami, Florida where he served as Youth Pastor under the leadership of his father, Rev. Arthur Jackson, Jr. He then gave leadership as Senior Pastor at the St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Coconut Grove for 15 years before accepting the call to Second Baptist.

Pastor Jackson's love for his family and faith is matched by his love for God's people. His giving spirit and fervent desire to see the best for God's people has catapulted his ministry into the leadership of the Seaboard Baptist Association, in which he serves as the Moderator. He also serves as 2nd Vice President of the Florida General Baptist Convention.

Pastor Jackson's leadership has impacted Second Baptist greatly, as membership steadily increased to over 3,000 congregants in 2008. His vision for Second Baptist is to be a "Kingdom Focused Ministry", that impacts the community both locally and globally. Already the church has renovated its Fellowship Hall, added a Media and Video System, and has begun a Senior Citizens Apartment Complex. Future plans include a Family Life Center and new worship center to be built on our church campus. Despite all the accolades and successes, Pastor Jackson remains an approachable and understanding man of God that never allows his title to overshadow his attitude of service.

Pastor Jackson's preaching and teaching are second to none, and his unique way of bringing the deeper things of God to a level that everyone can understand has endeared him to congregations nationwide. He is highly sought out for his teaching on First Fruits, Family Life, and Kingdom Principles. We are blessed to have such a dynamic man of God right here at Second Baptist!
