First Lady Dewana Jackson

First Lady Dewana Williams Jackson is the wife (since 1984) of Rev. Dr. Alphonso Jackson, Sr. She is the oldest child of Mr. & Mrs. Wilson Williams and sister of Kela Williams. Lady Jackson is a teacher, employed by the Dade County School Board in 1984. However, she taught three years in a private sector prior to entering the public system. She loves children and enjoy seeing them blossom.

Lady Jackson is a proud "1980" graduate of Bethune-Cookman College in Daytona Beach, Florida. While there, she immediately joined a church where she could carry out the work of the Lord. She was a member of the gospel choir, civic organizations, campus groups, and was elected "Miss Bethune-Cookman" in 1979.

Sister Jackson has been a diligent worker in the church most of her life. God has blessed Lady Jackson with an anointed singing and speaking voice that soothes and comforts the lives of her listeners. She has shared the Word of God as a guest speaker at numerous churches and for various occasions. She has been active as a Sunday School Teacher, Music Director for the youth, Marriage Counselor, Teacher for the Women's Ministry, Member of the Deaconess Ministry, Sisterhood Ministry, and so much more. Her involvement in the body of Christ has been abundant. She is one that gives her best wherever she can be a blessing to God's people and for His Kingdom.

If you should ask Lady Dewana Jackson what her greatest accomplishments are, she would tell you the day she said "I Do" to her loving husband, the day she became mother to Min. Alphonso, Jr. and Brianna, and the day she declared her faith to being a "Survivor" of Breast Cancer. Sister Jackson's goals in life are:

  • To be a good wife
  • To be a good mother
  • To be a diligent child of God.

She also wants to master the language of American Sign Language to be an interpreter in ministry.

The Second Baptist Church Family is thankful to have such a beautiful, spiritual, and loving First Lady.
